We all know the story of the Colonel's 11
secret herbal and spice recipes kept in a top secret vault, and no one knows
the original recipe. But recently, Colonel Joe Ledington's nephew revealed that
he has a scrapbook that contains the original handwritten recipe.
Of course, the parent company Yum! They
claim the released recipe does not contain real ingredients, but we put them to
the test, and it's very close. Try the recipe below and let us know your
thoughts on how it compares!
Important tip - before starting, make sure
all ingredients are at room temperature, because we don't want cold chicken
that lowers the temperature of the oil when frying!
*
Ingredients:
° 1 whole chicken, cut into pieces
° 3 eggs, beaten
° 4 tablespoons of oil
+ To paint
° 2 cups flour
° 4 teaspoons paprika
° 1 teaspoon salt
° 1 teaspoon pepper
° 1 teaspoon poultry seasoning (or chicken
broth powder)
° 1 teaspoon of oregano
° 1 teaspoon tarragon
° 1 teaspoon parsley
° 1/2 teaspoon thyme
° 1 teaspoon of chives
° 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
° 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
° 1/2 teaspoon celery salt
* Directione:
Sift the flour, add all the ingredients for
the coating, grind it well with a mortar and pestle, and place it in a clean
plastic bag. Cover each chicken piece first with the beaten egg, then with the
flour mixture in the bag. Make sure each piece is completely covered in flour.
Heat the oil in a frying pan. Slowly fry
the chicken in oil without covering it. Once it turns brown, cover the skillet
and continue frying over a very low heat until the chicken is completely
cooked. Placing on paper towels to leak excess.
Enjoy !
