°1 c buttermilk
°1 tsp baking soda
°1/2 c butter
°1/2 c shortening
°2 c white sugar
°5 eggs
°1 tsp vanilla extract
°1 c coconut
°1 teaspoon baking powder
°2 c flour
°8 oz cream cheese
°1/2 c butter
°1 tsp vanilla extract
°4 c icing sugar
°2 tsp light cream
°1/2 cup chopped walnuts
 °1 c sweetened coconut


Preheated oven 350 degrees F  
Greased 3 9-inch around cake pan. In bowl, dissolving baking soda in buttermilk; put apart.
In  bowl, cream 1/2 c butter, shortening & white sugar to light / fluffy. Stirring in eggs, buttermilk mixture, 1 tsp vanilla, 1 ccup coconut, baking powder and flour. Stirring to just mixed. Pour batter to ì pans.
Baking in preheated oven abut 30 to 35 minutes Permit cool.
To make the icing: In a medium bowl, combine cream cheese, 1/2 cup butter, 1 tsp vanilla and icing sugar. Beat until light and fluffy. Stirring in  amount of cream to achieve wanted consistency. Stirring in chopped walnuts also rest shredded coconut. Spreading among layers & on top and side cooled cake.
