HOMEMADE BISCUIT RECIPE

*Ingredients

°3 cups flour
°3 tsp of sugar
°1/2 tsp of salt
°4 tsp baking powder
°1/2 tsp cream of tartar
°3/4 cup COLD butter
°1 egg
°1 cup whole milk

* Instructions

 Preheat oven 450 degrees.
Often cookie dough is worked so hard that the butter softens before the cookies even go into the oven. Try cutting the butter into small pieces and return it to the fridge, removing it only when you're ready to incorporate it into the batter.
Mixing dried ingredients in  bowl.
Using a pastry cutter to cut cold butter to flour mixture. Don't get too crazy here - you want to see little pea-sized bits of butter throughout the batter.
Add the milk and egg and mix until the ingredients are combined. The dough will be sticky but do not continue working it. You should be able to see the bits of butter in the dough.
Roll out the dough on a generously floured surface. Sprinkle a little flour on top of the dough so it doesn't stick to your fingers and knead 10-15 times. If the dough is super sticky, just sprinkle with extra flour.
Pat dough out 3/4 - 1 inch thick and cut with cookie cutter or glass. I ended up with nine this time but depending on who is snacking on cookie dough, I can get up to 12 cookies.
Place cookies on a lightly greased baking sheet or parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 10-15 minutes or until golden on top.
For even more indulgence, brush the top of the cookies with melted butter...

Enjoy !
