Chow Chow (Old Fashioned)

 



My grandmother used to make this classic chow-chow for us every year when we were kids...Such a wonderful memory !! I made it today for my family for the first time and it turned out xsuper flavorful and yummy was a hit !! Definitely a keeper !!



YOU'LL NEED : 



- Cabbage: 1 small (chopped)


- Green or red tomatoes: 6 to 8 (chopped)


- Bell peppers: 6 medium (chopped)


- Onions: 6 large (chopped)


- Peppers: 2 hot (chopped)


- Sugar: 3 cups 


- White vinegar: 5 cups 


- Salt : 1/4 cup (pickling salt is fine too)




METHOD OF WORK :



1. To beging with, you're going to get a large pot and put in all ingredients and bring to a boil. Immediately reduce heat and cook until desired tenderness is achieved, it takes around 20 to 25 minutes.



2. Make sure to put in pint jars and sealed. This recipe should make 8 to 9 pints. If you're willing to use for one night of dinner, I recommend you to cut recipe down.
